Regional Program Coordinator — Torrance


Implement the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP), supervise daily operations related to YDPP, provide support and guidance to Lifestyle Coaches, and ensure that the program achieves quality performance outcomes.

Hours and Salary

$38,000-$40,000 annually. Full-time, salaried position with benefits including 10% paid retirement upon eligibility.




Must have outstanding communication skills; exceptional organizational skills; a passion for data and details; flexibility, and the ability to build strong relationships, inspire confidence, and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders (physicians, public health officials, employers, payers, health seekers, and senior Y leaders and lifestyle coaches). Public health background and proficient in Spanish language a plus.


External Responsibilities

Establish relationships with public health, physician, and payer communities and other referral networks to enhance awareness of and referrals to the YDPP. Serve as a liaison, ambassador, and advocate for the YDPP within public health, physician and payer communities. Respond to inquiries from the general public and members of the public health, physician and payer communities about the YDPP. Assist senior Y leaders in leveraging relationships with public health, physician and payer communities for the benefit of the YDPP. Engage senior Y leaders to be ambassadors and advocates for the YDPP in the public health, physician and payer communities. Serve as primary contact and participate in market launch activities

Internal Responsibilities

Hire and supervise Lifestyle Coaches. Organize Lifestyle Coach training(s), and support coaches in implementing the YDPP. Monitor the quality of support that Lifestyle Coaches provide to YDPP program participants. Recruit, screen and register eligible participants into YDPP. Organize master schedule of YDPP classes offered throughout the South Bay region. Engage marketing staff to ensure adequate publicity and marketing of YDPP. Assist Lifestyle Coaches with launching of each group and evaluation of the group. Assist with retention and commitment of program participants. Regularly analyze data from YDPP to ensure it meets quality performance standards. Audits YDPP program to ensure compliance with program standards. Participates on regularly-scheduled conference calls with Y-USA and other Ys participating in YDPP. Provide class coverage if needed to prevent a cancelled class.
