Self Employment Opportunity — Screen Printing (Create Your Own Media)

Think Graphic Tees.  They’re everywhere!  Every wander what it would take to design your own logo or create your images and have the masses buy it?  Groupon (again) is offering a class in Atwater Village for those interested an want to explore a possible and profitable opportunity.  Check out the offer from Groupon below:

Building a miniature ship inside a bottle is impressive, but not as impressive as forging a giant glass shell around yourself and waiting for your family to come home and find you. Do something crafty with this Groupon.

Choose from Three Options

  • $40 for a one-hour screenprinting class for one (an $80 value) and one standard screenprinted image
  • $69 for a one-hour screenprinting class for two (a $160 value) and one standard screenprinted image
  • $75 for a two-hour screenprinting class for one (a $150 value) and one custom screenprinted image

Held Fridays and Saturdays at 2 p.m., Grow Your Own Media’s group screenprinting classes are suitable for artists of all experience levels. Through this Groupon, the teachers will supply each of their charges with a blank tote bag, which can then be customized with the student’s image of choice. Custom images should be prepared and e-mailed to the instructor ahead of time as described in step four here. Everyone should also bring a pen and paper, additional printing material such as patches or posters if they desire, and old or worn-out cotton T-shirts to act as test shirts and rags.

Grow Your Own Media

In a studio charmingly cluttered with bright paint, printing stations, and busy artists, clients design and order screen-printed T-shirts, posters, patches, and bags, or learn to make their own. More experienced screen-printers might rent the studio and materials by the hour, providing an easy way to promote a band, personalize a present, or craft a witty retort to an “I’m With Stupid” shirt. The printers also organize artistic events offsite, showing off their skills to families, businesses, and social circles.
